Brand evolution

Our journey from RFPIO to Responsive

We’re proud of where we began and excited for the future — find out the reasons for change and why strategic response management is the next big thing.

RFPIO becomes a startup, launches first brand

In 2015, a few friends decided to build a better way to respond to RFPs. Though the product was first and foremost on their minds, they also launched the first brand, naming the company RFPIO and sketching out a new logo.

What Ganesh Shankar, AJ Sunder and Sankar Lagudu had dreamed up soon became a reality, and it quickly transitioned from a fledgling startup to the industry-leading RFP software solution. The brand was a perfect fit for their fast-growing company, serving the company extremely well.

Five years later, in 2020, business was accelerating at a record pace. Some of the leading companies around the world were adopting RFPIO for their RFP response teams, and customers were realizing even more value across their organizations with new features that empowered enterprise content accessibility and AI-driven automation.

Implementation was smooth. Customers reported efficiency and ROI that seemed too good to be true. The company’s identity was growing and evolving, so the founders decided it was time to refresh their brand. A fresh color palette, updated logo, modernized design elements and clearer messaging — plus the response management concept — were introduced.

RFPIO’s refreshed brand continued to grow stronger and stronger, as did the product. The value proposition was resonating with more and more companies, even as the economy was facing headwinds. Looking to take the next step, RFPIO made a bold move to acquire a top competitor, RFP360. In the late summer months of 2021, the RFP360 deal was done.

Strengthening RFPIO’s position as the leading provider of response management software was key, but RFP360 also provided a strategic sourcing and procurement solution. Acquiring RFP360 meant that RFPIO could now offer the most efficient, proactive and complete request for proposal (RFP) solution available — to more customers than ever.

Seeing how successful the integration with RFP360 was progressing, a little less than a year later in 2022, RFPIO completed another M&A deal by acquiring InHub. Joining the RFP360 business unit, InHub helped institutional investors, investment consultants and research teams to issue, manage, organize and evaluate RFPs and other RFX projects.

InHub combined the expertise from in-house industry professionals with intuitive software that helped customers to make better investment decisions. At the time of the transaction, InHub had been used to issue more than $250 billion in RFP mandates for many Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies, plus municipalities, consultants and more.

With RFPIO, RFP360 and InHub operating efficiently and effectively following the integration of teams, processes and plans, it was apparent that a new brand evolution was in order. The company had come together successfully, continued to grow at an incredible pace, and a new, combined category was coming into view.

Fast-forward to today, as Responsive, the company has emerged as the clear leader in strategic response management (SRM), a new software category that defines the practice of managing mission-critical information requests — not just RFPs — using a centralized, automated platform.
